BROOKFIELD, CT/July 26, 2007 - Residential developments affect the earth's ability to manage stormwater by creating discharges generated by run-off during rainfall or snow events that could adversely effect water quality. A major factor in these environmental changes is the increase in the amount of impervious surfaces such as roofs, driveways and roads that cause disruptions in the earth's natural drainage capabilities. CULTEC, Inc. has developed retention/detention infiltration and stormwater chamber systems to concurrently protect environmental resources and meet EPA stormwater management regulations. Phase II of the federally mandated Clean Water Act requires that a certain percentage of stormwater be contained and treated on-site.

CULTEC Chambers Offer Stormwater Options
CULTEC is the manufacturer of the CULTEC Contactor® and Recharger® Plastic Stormwater Detention/Retention Chambers. They may be used to collect the rainwater from gutters, downspouts, lawn and driveway drains. The chambers may also be used as separate drywells that contain pool backwash, washing machine or dishwasher gray water.
CULTEC systems can be installed quickly and easily using the patented overlapping rib connection unique to CULTEC chambers. Another advantage to developers is that they require less stone and area than most pipe systems, thereby being more cost-effective and allowing land to be used for other purposes such as a pool. They also are lightweight and can be carried into jobsites that already have existing landscaping or tight working areas. They can be installed under driveways and withstand AASHTO H20 (32,000 lb/axle) designation CULTEC chambers are constructed of durable polyethylene, and designed in a domed shape with fully open bottoms and perforated sidewalls for maximum stormwater retention.
CULTEC Chamber Systems are one of the few means that provide significant groundwater recharge in areas with high percentage of impervious surface area. Water enters from a collective device, typically from a catch basin inlet structure; and is then directed into the CULTEC Contactor® or Recharger® Chambers for storage until it can infiltrate back into the ground. These systems are installed underground, below driveways or cul-de-sacs, as well as, perimeter of a home to filter roof run-off.
CULTEC chambers are offered in a variety of sizes with, standard- and heavy-duty, as well as high- and low-profile models available. In addition to offering greater storage capacity and better infiltration capability than most traditional stormwater management practices, the chambers come with a 10-year warranty and are virtually maintenance free.
