Western Wood Products becomes master distributor of Brigade BoardWestern Wood Products -- September 4, 2007

September 4, 2007 - FREDERICKSBURG, VA - Western Wood Products introduces the Brigade Board™ insulated siding system to improve the installation, performance and appearance of vinyl siding. Brigade Board™ offers homeowners a new and improved product over traditional foam or hollow back siding. A patent-pending fastening method attaches the vinyl siding to high-density foam insulation using a series of rivets in a way that allows the vinyl to float freely from the insulation. The rivets are mechanically attached allowing the vinyl and foam system to adjust to the different climate conditions that a house faces throughout the year for a solid, smooth and uniform look.

New innovative system improves vinyl siding installation, performance and appearance.

For the first time in the history of exterior veneer sidings, Brigade Board™ establishes a solid system that joins itself to the outer-most area of a house while providing free movement of all parts as they act in unison to protect, beautify and add extra security to walls from insects, mold, mildew, fire, weather and human invasion. The Brigade Board™ free-floating system minimizes oil canning and allows moisture to escape, dramatically reducing problems with mold and mildew. The foam is contoured to the shape of the vinyl, creating a solid and durable exterior surface that resists denting.

Brigade Board was developed by Georgia Foam (Gainesville, GA) using high-quality vinyl siding from Vytec, an Owens Corning company. The expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation produced by Georgia Foam has an R-value of 4.0 per inch of thickness. EPS in Brigade Board in conjunction with vinyl siding profiles produces an R-value up to 3.0. The standard .040 mil thickness is used for the construction trade and Brigade Board™ Premium Vinyl .044 mil thickness offers the extra benefits of the TruColor protection formula from Vytec.

Brigade Board is currently available in 16 colors and two profiles: traditional clapboard and Dutch lap. Within the next several months a 6" beaded and straight lap will be available.

Georgia Foam and Western Wood Products developed Brigade Board based on decades of experience in building products. The new siding innovation fits Western Wood Products' unique business model.

"As a distributor we focus on adding value to the brands we sell. For example, we often re-size orders or trim products in our yard to better respond to customer inventory requirements," says Western Wood Products general manager Mark McNabb. "Brigade Board takes this a step further with a product that we actually manufacture."

Brigade Board and its equipment were developed by a team of innovators at Georgia Foam, according to Joe Greene, president and CEO of Georgia Foam and Western Wood Products.

We call Brigade Board a 'system' because its performance features come from our proprietary manufacturing process as much as from the high-quality vinyl and foam. Our patent-pending mechanical fastening system is the solution to a universal problem for siding installers and it helps resolve a common challenge with vinyl siding in general." explains Greene

Brigade Board is distributed in North America by Western Wood Products.
