August 2007 - DEWALT, a leading manufacturer of industrial power tools, announced the launch of its heavy-duty 28V SDS rotary hammer (DC228KL) with NANO™ Technology. NANO™ Technology is a proprietary technology from DEWALT that combines maximum life, weight and performance in an ideal ergonomic package, helping to meet the jobsite needs of professional contractors.
The DEWALT 28V rotary hammer with NANO™ Technology features an exclusive battery that is designed with unique Nano Phosphate Lithium Ion cells that provide users with increased battery durability and cycle life, offering 2,000 recharges. Additionally, internal testing evaluated the run-time of the DC228KL against other cordless rotary hammers and found that the DC228KL drilled an average of 63 holes that were 1/2" x 2" deep into 3,500 psi concrete. This is 70% more run-time than the industry's leading 18V rotary hammer.

The DC228KL is equipped with a DEWALT-built, high-power, high-efficiency motor and 1.9 ft-lb of impact energy, providing professional contractors with enough power to complete heavy-duty jobsite applications. The 28V rotary hammer is also a compact and lightweight tool with a length of 10 1/2" and a weight of 7.6 lbs. Additionally, the DC228KL features a compact L-shape design, allowing access in tight spaces while providing optimal balance to the user.
Engineered to give professional users a more comfortable drilling experience, the DC228KL is built with a patent-pending SHOCKS - Active Vibration Control® system. The SHOCKS™ - Active Vibration Control is a system of shock absorbers located between the handle and the hammer. This feature reduces the amount of vibration felt by users, increasing comfort and giving the hammer the lowest amount of vibration in its class. For increased versatility, the DC228KL comes equipped with three application modes for hammerdrilling, drilling, and chipping. For added comfort and control the 28V rotary hammer features an anti-slip comfort grip.
