LOS ANGELES (December 2007) - Staron Surfaces, a division of worldwide technology leader Samsung, has announced an expansion of its Tempest product line by adding 10 new colors, bringing the entire Tempest palate to 20 color options.
The new colors series, branded Tempest Stylist, exudes rich, natural color tones. The series provides an upscale, designer-grade product to professionals and homeowners who are seeking a unique surface for any home or commercial project.

"Like the existing Tempest colors, those in the Stylist series include larger, translucent particulates, which create a look that rivals quartz and natural stone," said Dale Mandell, Staron's national sales manager. "In several of the new color choices, the addition of reflective chips creates an appearance consistent with metallic elements and minerals often found in nature. The result is a depth and saturation of color that is an industry first in acrylic solid surface countertops for residential and commercial projects."
The 10 new Tempest Stylist colors are Radiance, Glimmer, Sonoma, Starfire, Goldleaf, Whip-poor-will, Zenith, Prairie, Sandpiper and Confection. "Their rich, translucent qualities and complex, dimensional character reflect a high-end appeal that is sure to create great demand," added Mandell.
The new Tempest colors also are certified by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute, a certification that recently was granted to Staron for its full range of Solid Surface materials, including the Staron Tempest line and Staron all-acrylic sinks and bowls. Each of the product lines passed the requirements of two GREENGUARD certification programs. GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified® product certification is granted for low-emitting interior building materials, furnishings and finish systems. The more stringent GREENGUARD for Children & SchoolsSM certification is granted for low-emitting interior building materials, furnishings and finish systems used in educational (daycare and K-12) environments. The GREENGUARD certification streamlines the process for attaining points toward LEED® for Commercial Interiors certification in its Environmental Quality (EQ) 4.5 section.
