Typar Launches New Fiber-Reinforced, Weather-Resistant Barrier for Extreme Weather Conditions Typar StormWrap designed to minimize penetration of wind-borne objects with unprecedented impact resistance

(OLD HICKORY, Tenn.) February 14, 2008 –Typar® recently expanded its Weather Protection System to include Typar® StormWrap™, a fiber-reinforced weather-resistant barrier that couples unparalleled impact resistance with superior water holdout for applications in extreme weather conditions.

Designed for use in both residential and commercial applications, StormWrap has similar properties to the company's flagship product, Typar Housewrap™, such as outstanding tear strength, the ability to block exterior water penetration and optimal moisture vapor transmission that allows wall cavities to breathe and stay dry.

The difference, according to Bob Dahl, Business Director of Typar Construction Products, is a unique web of fibers that act as a kinetic energy dissipating net to catch and resist large projectile penetrations while protecting against high wind pressure cycling. "An impact-resistant weather barrier is key to constructing a home sturdy enough to withstand potential storm damage, especially in regions prone to hurricanes, high winds, tornadoes and other volatile weather conditions," says Dahl.

StormWrap also meets the rigorous demands of the Miami-Dade County and Florida building codes and delivers an entirely new level of performance capability for weather resistive barriers.

"Typar StormWrap is an ideal choice for extreme weather conditions, it's easy to install and gives builders more choices in building design and construction."

And, as part of the Typar Weather Protection System, StormWrap will not support the growth of mold or degradation of interior air quality. Furthermore, when properly installed, the product can reduce energy cost over time by resisting air infiltration.
