SAN FRANCISCO — March 6, 2008 — Zephyr, a leading designer and manufacturer of design-centric, high-end kitchen ventilation hoods, today introduced the its first ENERGY STAR-compliant range hood. The new Zephyr ES1 under-cabinet ventilation hood combines quality and performance with low energy consumption that meets the strict ENERGY STAR standards of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy.

Zephyr ES1 is the latest addition to the company's Essentials line of efficient, cost-effective ventilation hoods. Compared to similar under-cabinet range hoods, it saves up to 564 kilowatt hours (kWh), or roughly 65 percent of the electricity typically consumed. In addition, it uses compact, energy-efficient fluorescent light bulbs that last up to five times longer than traditional halogen bulbs.

Designed for vertical or horizontal ducting using a 280-CFM internal blower, it has earned Home Ventilation Institute (HVI) performance certification. The quiet, three-speed blower system clears the air while convenient, dishwasher-safe aluminum filters efficiently remove airborne residues. The compact, 30-inch Zephyr ES1 range hood is available in three colors (black, stainless steel and white).
