G-P Gypsum Now Offers AIA/CES Classes Online Continuing Education Classes Available 24/7
ATLANTA, July 12, 2006 --Now architects can simply sit down at their computers to take part in American Institute of Architects Continuing Education Systems (AIA/CES) Registered programs facilitated by G-P Gypsum. Known for its face-to-face continuing education classes, or Lunch and Learns, G-P Gypsum is now expanding its outreach to architects by offering AIA/CES Registered programs online.
The first distance learning classes are now available through gp.com/build. AIA-member architects can earn Health Safety Welfare (HSW) continuing education credits for successfully completing these programs. The free courses are also available to non-AIA members for Continuing Education Learning Units. The process of taking a class is simple: Participants just log in, study the presentation and take a test. With the click of a mouse, the test goes to the AIA, and almost instantly the participant receives a certification for the learning unit earned.
"Offering distance learning classes is just one more way we at G-P Gypsum are working to make it easier for architects to meet their AIA educational requirements,"
said Reinhard Schneider, G-P Gypsum senior product manager. "Just last month we hosted hundreds of architects at our Lunch and Learns in New York and Denver. Many others wanted to attend, but we just couldn't accommodate them all."
The availability of seats at Lunch and Learns isn't the only limitation architects face in earning learning units required for annual AIA membership. Busy schedules often make it difficult for many to find time for continuing education. That's why G-P Gypsum is working to develop more new media opportunities. The goal is make it easier to learn on the run, but the original Lunch and Learn seminars at various cities throughout the U. S. won't go away anytime soon.
"It's important to us as a manufacturer to continue talking with construction professionals face-to-face so we can truly understand their needs," said Dave Brewster, G-P Gypsum architectural/technical consultant. "We feel it is important to offer alternative learning solutions as well, like this initiative which is available any hour of any day."
To take part in the online classes or register for the nearest Lunch and Learn, participants can go to gp.com/build and visit the architects section of the site.
