UPC: Protecting Everyone The Uniform Plumbing Code is developed by experts on behalf of everyone, and has been for more that 80 years. These experts include plumbers, mechanical system professionals, manufacturers, builders, and dedicated building officials. As a practical model document, the UPC serves half of the world’s population and allows anybody with a stake in protecting the public’s health to influence its development for their clients and constituents. The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) coordinates these efforts to provide the only American National Standard plumbing and mechanical codes accredited by ANSI. By focusing its expertise to only two codes, plumbing and mechanical, (and the related Solar Energy and Swimming Pool codes) IAPMO provides deeper understanding and involvement in the systems that make all our lives safer and healthier.
