A/C model adds more options to the Citia line

September 21, 2006 -- Last year, ThyssenKrupp Access revolutionized the stairlift industry with the battery operated Citia (the Citia BOS). This year ThyssenKrupp Access ups the ante with the Citia A/C. The Citia A/C plugs right into the wall, eliminating the use of batteries altogether. This brings peace of mind to people who have been worried in the past about the maintenance of having to change a rechargeable battery every few years.

The only visible difference between the Citia BOS lay as the lift travels versus the A/C is a small opening in the track

The new Citia A/C is much like the BOS, the only aesthetic difference is the appearance of a small opening in the track, which allows a place for the power cord to quietly along the track.

The Citia A/C still features the ability to use any of the seats currently available, or the newly introduced shuttle, which allows a user to shuttle cargo up and down the stairs. The Citia A/C has already been well received. We have been eager to bring the adaptability of the Citia BOS system to the A/C market. The new A/C model performs just as well as its BOS counterpart and is a great addition to our stairlift lineup, Thomas Hance, President, ThyssenKrupp Access, said. The Citia A/C brings some new technology to the stairlift world as well. Typically, within an A/C model, the power cord winds and unwinds on a cord reel. The cord reel resembles a spool, with power cord wrapped around it, and uses a spring to keep the cord taut and out of the way. Cord reels were also one of the most often serviced parts on A/C units. In the new Citia A/C, ThyssenKrupp Access has done away with the cord reel and now uses a flex-chain. The flex-chain is like a plastic guard which keeps the cord safe and out of the way, making for a longer lasting, less serviced item. The Citia A/C is available now.
